About LTC: Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) John J. Acevedo received his commission through the University of Puerto Rico in January 1996 in the Ordnance branch. LTC Acevedo’s first assignment was at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, assigned to the National Training Center Support Battalion. LTC Acevedo served in various leadership positions from Platoon Leader, Maintenance Control Officer, to Battalion S3. Before leaving Ft. Irwin, LTC Acevedo was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Following attendance at the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course and conversion to the Sustainment branch, LTC Acevedo served as a Company Commander of the Delta Company Electronic Maintenance Company, 702nd Main Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea. LTC Acevedo was then assigned to the Miami Recruiting Battalion as a recruiting Company Commander for the North Dade Recruiting Company. Following this assignment, LTC Acevedo was assigned to the 309th Training Support Battalion (AC/RC). During this time, LTC Acevedo deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) from 2006 to 2007 and was promoted to the rank of Major. After attendance at the Command and General Staff College, LTC Acevedo was assigned to Korea once again as the 2nd Infantry Division’s, 1st Brigade Combat Team S4 and Forward Support Battalion as the Battalion S3. LTC Acevedo was then assigned as the Chief of Plans at the U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Florida, where he was promoted to LTC. After this assignment, LTC Acevedo was selected for the Afghanistan-Pakistan (AFPAK) hands program as an advisor for the Afghan Army with an assignment at the Pentagon, Washington DC. There, LTC Acevedo deployed on two tours to Afghanistan and served on the Joint Staff as the Afghanistan desk officer. He also served as an action officer for the Headquarters Army Staff following his last deployment. LTC Acevedo culminated his career as Deputy Plans Chief assigned to America’s First Corps at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, in January 2021. LTC Acevedo has been awarded two bronze stars, three Meritorious Service Medals, two Defense Service Medals, and several other Army and Joint commendations. His badges include the Airborne and Air Assault badge, Joint Staff and Headquarters Army staff badges, and Combat Action Badge. After retirement, LTC (R) Acevedo served as a civilian contractor for the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM). LTC (R) then applied to be a JROTC Instructor at Hollywood Hills High School as the Senior Army Instructor. Just last year, LTC (R) had the opportunity to move to Monarch High School, where he serves as the Monarch Knight Senior Army Instructor… Go Knights! |

Sergeant First Class Jamie Howard hails from Milton, Florida. SFC Howard is a devoted family man, married to his wife, Kendra, for 20 years. Together, they are proud parents of three children, Kasen (Son), Kaelyn (Daughter), and Kendallyn (Daughter). SFC Howard's unwavering support for his family and community underscores his character and dedication both at home and in service to his country. After 20 years and 14 days of Active Duty service, SFC Howard retired from the Army on November 30th, 2005. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 17, 2005, and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Charlie Company, 2-54th Infantry Regiment, Fort Benning, GA. Upon completion of training, he was awarded the MOS 11B Infantryman. Upon completion of Basic Combat Training, SFC Howard was assigned to 2nd BN 7th IN, located at Fort Stewart, GA. Since then, SFC Howard has served in every position in an Infantry Company, from Rifleman to Platoon Sergeant. SFC Howard has served with the 2nd BN 7th IN, Fort Stewart, GA, 6th Ranger Training Battalion, Eglin AFB, FL, E Troop 2nd Squadron, 2d CR, Vilseck, Germany, 2nd BN 502nd IN, Fort Campbell, KY, 1st BN 48th IN, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy, Fort Jackson, SC as a Drill Sergeant Leader, B CO. 2-325 AIR, 82nd ABN DIV, Fort Bragg, NC as a Platoon Sergeant, and served as a Military Science Instructor at Nova Southeastern University’s Army ROTC program under the Southern Strike BN, 6th BDE, United States Army Cadet Command. SFC Howard has completed four combat deployments during his military career, serving as an M249 Machine Gunner in Iraq with 2nd BN 7th IN, Fort Stewart, GA, from January 2007 to March 2008, a Team Leader and Squad Leader in Afghanistan with E Troop 2nd Squadron, 2d CR, Vilseck, Germany from July 2010 to May 2011, in Afghanistan as a Weapons Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant with 2nd BN 502nd IN, Fort Campbell, KY from February 2014 to October 2014, and his most recent one to Baghdad, Iraq as a Platoon Sergeant with 2nd BN, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, in the 82nd Airborne Division from June 2020 to January 2021. In February of 2023, SFC Howard completed his undergraduate degree from American Military University (AMU) with a BS in Business Administration. In May of 2025, he completed his Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration with a certificate in Organizational Development from the University of Louisville. SFC Howard began working at Monarch High School as an Army Instructor in October, 2025. |
